ARTIST STATEMENT
Kate Zimmer is a contemporary abstract painter working mostly in acrylics and whose studio is in the historic Industrial Center Building (ICB) on the Sausalito waterfront. Although originally from the plains of Nebraska, she has lived and raised a son in the Bay Area since 1985.
Kate’s paintings are colorful, expressive and evoke a range of emotion. “I am driven by my inner emotional responses to life, and I use color relationships and mark-making to try to give a voice to that experience. Hopefully the work is engaging, sparks curiosity and is beautiful all at the same time!”
Because Kate has a strong inner directive to always be evolving, her work reflects this in the different series she explores. Currently, Kate’s newest work celebrates her love of color, line and mark-making in a series of organic shapes bathing in atmospheric and ethereal space. Kate's website is: www.katezimmer.com
